We decorated the house the day after my birthday. I can't believe I'm 29, little bit scared for when I turn 30 next year. Done a Christmas lights run with my local running club last night. On my birthday we went to Westfield and got really spoilt. Reading a new book by Jacqueline Wilson and it is quite good. Got cookies from Costco and nearly finished the box. Made some digital drawings and thought about an ending for ETA. We went and supported and took photos at the Santa dash. Did our annual paint and sip, it was the northern lights this time. We went to see just for one day the live aid musical which was amazing 😍 and had pick and cheese dinner, it's like yo sushi but cheese and ham.
Chapter whatever-Now we live
C, S and Edward and Kristine went to step through the mirror out of the darkness and into this world that they had come back to. Edward stepped in before C but stopped halfway, his other half invisible. C just stopped and looked to her right. She could hear something. A light groan.
"You coming?" Edward said.
She told him to go and just wait 10 minutes, that way if something was wrong, she knew he would come back. She stood still, froze,n facing the noise in the darkness. The groaning grew slightly louder. As it got closer, it started to sound like a cat's growl. Then out of the darkness she saw a small child's hand. As it approached her out of the darkness, she saw this zombie-like human. Reaching to grab her, wanting nothing more than to kill and smother the likes. Every time it got close, she took one step back.
"You need convincing..." She paused for a minute. She knew she was searching for Edward, but there was a reason why she and Edward found each other. Her brother ran off.
"Frankie, I know you are in there." She stopped and knelt to the ground. Her brother was a teenager now. When they lost him, he was 7. She grabbed his arms. "Just look at me, look into the light, Frankie, we can go home." At just one mention of home, silence filled the darkness.
The boy stopped growing. The wrinkles, the dead skin, it all healed in an instant. Then the innocence glittered back into his eyes. He hugged her after a big breath. But C didn't feel happy; the darkness was still here. She had to give it light, then no more monsters, no more scars. But when C had woken up her brother, she didn't feel happy. She looked to her left and saw a sword lying there. The exact sword she used to fight off monsters, the one now referred to as the sword of destiny. She looked at it and cried...
Before the human race explains the tragedy that is about to unfold, it is essential to understand how it began. Time was crumbling, we don't know where the darkness came from, whether it was us or just time growing old, and that I think is better off unknown. When this all started, Grace (C), we categorised survivors by letters. We witnessed the zombie virus head-on and evacuated everyone. The scientists had already realised mirrors were the key to seeing into other universes, but when we turned on the machine to try and escape. We didn't realise we had turned them all on. Grace's parents were arguing at the time over how to survive. In one of our tall buildings, we think everyone was. Frankie ran off upstairs and into his bedroom. He disappeared into the mirror into the centre of time, and then you can only imagine what happened next.
In the darkness
Grace looked, and she saw the sword shine in the darkness. One bit of light, hope that's all it needed. She grabbed the sword and handed it in a hurry to Frankie.
"What are you doing?" Frankie said he was even more scared than his sister. She straightened her body and just moved forward to hug him. She felt the sword pierce her stomach. Only gods bleed gold. The immortals were inside Grace, protecting her body. Now they must fill the darkness with light and help everyone else to live.
Frankie lay her down and took the sword out. He watched as every spec of gold dust filled the darkness. Black turned to white. It was so bright it was bleeding, then it turned into a mirror. Edward came back in, and they dragged Grace out together. She woke up in a fright.
In the light
"Now, what do we do?!" she said to her family. "Now we find survivors," Edward said. They all climbed the ladder out of the bunker where Grace and Edward found the mirror that led them to Time. Still gripping the sword. Grace made a wish when she felt that sword cut so deeply. No more scars.
When they came out of the bunker, all was silent. Grace remembered they used their watches to travel, between mirrors, so that's how we were going to escape. It was silent, just the whistling in the wind; it felt like the only sign of life was the plants at first. Then we went to a bar, and we started to look for food. Where there was food, maybe there would be people. When we got to a sports club bar. All I saw was the barrel of a gun; they were so scared. Claudia is a mother, and her son is Isaac.
Apart from the sword on my back, we had no weapons. We all raised our hands, out of slight fear but also out of hope and innocence.
"You are not monsters", Claudia said with a shake in her voice and placed the gun on the counter. They were happy, everyone was. Grace and the others had drawn/written posters that said " all survivors go to... in four days time. There are no more monsters." They didn't really know if it would help, or if anyone would trust it, but when it came to that fourth day, you won't believe how many turned up. We had chosen a school, and when it struck midday, that's when we were going to meet them. The noise was so loud in the hall. People crowded in one space. We did split the space into sections according to skills, but that seemed useless now. When Grace got to the front to speak to everyone, she looked for Adam, but he wasn't there. She hesitated and looked at Edward. "He went to go and fight one more scar, please don't follow him..." he said. She went to speak, but he looked at the crowd of people and said, "Don't follow him alone."
Edward told Grace where her husband was. Grace edged in front of the crowd one last time. "I... I found our escape, and the darkness was everywhere. We found a way out and got rid of all the monsters. That's how all of you got here today, those monsters were your family, and all I can say is now they are gone, and they rest in peace. But now I ask you to follow me one more time. I used this sword," she took the sword off her back and held it in her hand. She looked at it with sarcasm. "I ask you to follow me, and maybe we can save my husband's pleas from one last scar?"
They all followed one massive crowd, an army of humans. When they reached the clock tower at the centre of town, Grace just stopped when she saw Adam. He was fine, perfect even. He told her he was wrong, they didn't need to fight, not anymore. When she looked over his shoulder, she saw him.
Arthur walked up to Grace. The crowd of people was frozen, waiting for a command from Grace. She looked at Arthur, and then he spoke first. "I told you my name, and Penny knew my name, but only my first name. Arthur, it sounded like author like someone had written a book. But I ... I wrote universes and dimensions..." Grace looked at Time and stopped him in his tracks from talking too much or wildly. "Did I bring you to life?" she questioned him.
"Yeah, you did. You are a god, Grace." She hugged him, and when she let go and looked at him, her face was ashamed that she wasn't a god. All we remember were the words, and we carried on living with our protectors and remember now we get to live. Happiness turned into rage. "I am not a God", Grace said to Arthur out of disgust.
"Why do you hesitate? You created people, you eliminated monsters, you made whole universes, and you answer like that statement is a question, it's not a question, Grace. It's a statement and tells why you don't believe it," he said.
Before Grace could answer, one of us came out of the crowd, my name was Lilly. I stood there and yelled at the top of my lungs so Grace could hear. "Where did all the monsters go?" She stopped and looked at all of us. She told that man to listen, and all of us did that.
"Ask me again," the whole crowd spoke this time, and they repeated the question.
"They're right here. All of you are monsters. I ... erm just went looking for my family." As she spoke, she looked at each relevant person to whom she was referring. "In turn, Me Edward, and we saved everything. So, can I ask you a question, and you don't have to answer? Am I a hero?! When someone gets told they are a hero, or gets awarded the medal of bravery. Do they stand there or sit back and fill themselves with pride and say, 'yeah, I'm a hero'? No, they don't. Time stands there," she points at Arthur. " He called me a god, but I am not a god. I made the universe, and I destroyed some, but I saved you. Those monsters. You asked me where they have gone. I'm telling you they never left. The virus spread naturally, and we destroyed each other with it. This world was built out of fear, anger and darkness. Now this new one is built out of hope, innocence and just a little bit of fear, but most of light. The only difference between us monsters and the ones before us that I got rid of... is we get to live." She stood there and told us a story. We listened, then we lived.
After Grace's brother went missing, the phone rang. Edward was on the other end. He was a man in his 20s, working as a scientist from a different universe, clutching a lucky sixpence from his wife and looking for answers. His answer was Grace. Not the person, the word. In a world full of monsters, he found Grace. That's when they got together and found a mirror that led them to time, and they changed everything. When Grace stepped into the darkness after Edward, she fainted and woke up in a world full of repeated versions of herself and another man that in her original world she had made up. When they did that, they woke up someone else, Arthur, Arthur Time.
"Now the monsters live", Grace repeated herself and lifted her sword into the air. The entire crowd cheered. They all did that, they all lived forever.
