Its official now, I'm a permanent teaching assistant. I just wanted to tell you about a few lessons I've learnt during my journey to becoming permanent.
I guarantee that there will be a lot of teaching puns or phrase within reading this as well. I learned that every student is unique and that in a way every single one of them is special. You literally have life long learning even after you have left education. I myself build the bridge to balancing work, life and relaxing.
But the biggest thing I learned is that teaching or working in a school is always hard. I worry about being ill or having one day off would stop those students from learning or having fun. When really all they think about is how much fun their going to have in one day.
I have been trying so hard, to do my job and to do it right not for me but for the students. I do truly feel like a role model. I learned that sometimes my anxiety can get the better of me. But its the same for the students I teach. They all hold that brief case of anxiety, stress or grief. Sometimes it opens and every thing comes falling out making one huge mess. But we all have to pull ourselves together and push it back it, so that we can get on with the rest of our day.
I learned that there are many steps to help and my favourite part of the job is telling parents how wonderful their son/daughter is. Then what best I can support for. I love giving presale points for awards. However I do realise how much school has changed since I was their age. Everything is different, from what they learn to how they teach. Also how we plan, even marking and grading is different. Its no longer ABC its 987.
However, these changing never stop me from support as many students as I can.
